Things to do
In Lesotho, every season has its unique attractions. So where better to experience Africa's natural attractions and enjoy the outdoors unspoilt by crowds and commercialisation. Whether you are looking for strenuous activities - sometimes with a real sense of adventure - or for more relaxing pursuits amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in Africa; whether you are 8 or 80, Lesotho always has something to offer.
Walking
The hills and mountains of Lesotho were made for walking, and the hundreds of kilometres of mountain trails offer a wonderful opportunity of discovering the best of Lesotho.
Hiking
Lesotho is a hiker's paradise. The country has no organised hiking trails - it doesn't need any since the entire country is criss-crossed by a network of bridle and foot paths.
Dinosaur trails
The existence of life in Lesotho dates back 200 million years. The evidence lies in the fossilised dinosaur footprints that have been uncovered throughout Lesotho.
Morija Museum & Archives
The Morija Museum & Archives is a wealth of artifacts, documents and traditional materials that reflect the history and culture of Lesotho. It is situated in the picturesque village of Morija.
Fishing
Lesotho offers so much for the angler and there are opportunities to catch trout, barbel and yellowfish.
Birding
The birdlife attracts most lovers of wildlife to the Kingdom. Although there are less than 300 different species, many are montane rarities - the Orange-breasted Rockjumper, the Sentinel Rock-thrush and the Drakensberg Siskin - while others are simply spectacular.
Abseiling
The 204m-drop abseil along the Maletsunyane Falls is the longest commercial abseil in the world.
Skiing
Skiing in Lesotho is always a somewhat haphazard affair. The best time to go is between May and August.
Mountain biking
Many of our trails are suitable for exploring on bikes and are becoming increasingly popular among enthusiasts.
Paragliding & hang gliding
Despite having ideal conditions for paragliding and hand gliding, there is no specialist equipment for hire in Lesotho.
